Behind the Workshop
Made by Hand in Congleton
A look inside our Cheshire workshop: the timber we choose, the joints we cut and why we still make everything by hand.

Wood & Water is a small workshop in Congleton, Cheshire, built around a simple idea: garden products made properly, from solid timber, by people who care about the result.
It starts with the timber
Every piece begins as a board we have chosen ourselves. We look for straight grain, sound knots and timber that will behave outdoors. Oak is our first love for its strength and the way it weathers, and we select each length with its final home in mind.
Cut, jointed and finished by hand
Machines help us dimension timber accurately, but the joinery, assembly and finishing are done by hand at the bench. It is slower. It is also the only way we know to make something we are happy to put our name to.
Built for real gardens
Everything we make is designed to live outside in British weather, to be leant on, planted in and gathered around. We test ideas in our own gardens before they ever reach yours.
